Vintage Petite Red Chinoiserie Armchair and Cricket Footstool

This is the most wonderful little armchair and footstool. They are not a matching pair but upholstered to be so in an incredible red woven Chinoiserie heavy duty fabric. The chair is on casters and has a marvelous extra-large nail head detail around the bottom of the apron and bordering the outside back. The adorable little footstool in inscribed on the underside with “Here is a cricket for thine hearth: a.m. 1942”. I’m thinking of the stories it could tell!!! The cricket is made of oak but has been painted red and antiqued at some point in its life. Most likely when the set was reupholstered in its fabulous current fabric. This lovely set would go beautifully in a bedroom, living room for a lovely reading chair, or even a closet or bath. They are both in ready to use condition. A small but mighty treat with lots of detail.
