We just love these lamps so much! They scream of nostalgia yet fit right in with today’s eclectic decors. These tramp art folk art lamps were made sometime 1950s or before. There is an old return address paper sticker on each lamp with the name Robert Elmore with a PO box number in Oakdale, West Virginia and no zip code so had to be before 1963. Whether he made them or whether he was an owner, we do not know. But I visualize Robert in his 1950s rec room carefully constructing these from piles and piles of Popsicle sticks using a pattern he found in Field and Stream or some hobby magazine. The pattern this pair’s maker used included a helix shape for the lamp base and an interesting shaped twelve-sided shade. I learned quite a bit researching these about Popsicles and how they were accidentally invented – you should google it! But first you should make these lamps your own.
