Mid-Late 20th C Hollywood Regency to Cottagecore Curved Blue Velvet Sofa by American of Martinsville

$2,495

Lovely vintage Traditional or Hollywood Regency or Cottagecore curved kidney shaped blue velvet sofa by American of Martinsville. Comprised of 2 loose button tucked poly foam cushions, tight back with rouching, needlepoint ribbon trim skirt, and seven straight squared wood legs. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. It has been professionally shampooed but some stains still exist plus the shampooing process left the velvet with an unusual napping. Also, there is a patch repair to a cigarette burn in the upper back. Most will want to recover. It is priced accordingly. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid-Late 20th Century.

Description

She wore Blue Velvet…. Bluer than velvet was the night. I have a feeling Bobby Vinton would LOVE this sofa!!!! Of course, he would! What’s not to love?? This is a wonderful vintage curved or kidney shaped blue velvet sofa by American of Martinsville. It is comprised of two loose poly foam filled seat cushions with diamond button tucked detail, a tight back with front buttons and rouching on the top edge, and needlepoint ribbon trim on the skirt, (it could be removed if you choose.) which would expose the lovely straight square wood legs, seven in total; 4 in the front and 3 in the back. It is a little bit Traditional; a little bit Hollywood Regency; plus a little bit Cottagecore, and it is going to be delightful in your living room, sitting room, or family room flanking the fireplace! It bears a classic style, supreme comfort, and it’s beautifully blue!!

American of Martinsville was established in 1906 in Martinsville, Virginia by tobacco manufacturers, Ancil Witten, and Charles Keesee. Early on they produced only bedroom furniture. In the 1920s they expanded their production to include dining room furniture and by the end of the 1950s were vast in their offerings in purpose and style. With the expansion of travel and roadside motels, they began offering a mass-produced line for the many motels popping up across the country and continued this through the end of the 20th century. In 2000 they were acquired by La-Z-Boy Incorporated and today specialize in furniture for the hotel and healthcare industries.

Don’t wait ‘til you’re “blue in the face!!” Make this wonderful blue velvet sofa by American of Martinsville yours!!
