Well, what have we here? A beautiful Buffet? Yes! A spectacular Sideboard? Yes! A charming Credenza or Console? Also… YES!!!!! This is a stunning piece by Union National Inc comprised of a patinated black painted frame with an overall purposeful patina. It bears a serpentine front, four drawers in the center, and a smaller drawer on each side above each side door. All of the drawers and door fronts are embellished with wonderful intricately hand painted Regency style scenes, trimmed with gilded lines. Each drawer has brass bail pulls while the doors have brass drop pulls. There is a single shelf behind each door and the upper left drawer has dividers and is felt lined. It is gilded along the bottom edge of the cabinet and although technically it is a buffet, you could absolutely use it as a credenza or console in your living room, as a sideboard in the entry or as a buffet in the kitchen or dining area. It has adequate space for linens, books, and any other items you need to stow away. It is versatile, elegant, and FULL of Regency style!!!
The Union National Furniture Co. of Jamestown, NY., was formed in 1939 from the National Furniture Co., which had been in business since the early 1890’s. Both companies were owned and operated by the Nord family. The Nord’s made quality high-end furniture. Union National catered to many famous people including William Holden, Jerry Lewis, Lucile Ball, Wayne Newton, and others. The furniture was expensive and brings top dollar to current day. All furniture by Union National was made of quality hardwoods and painted pieces were done by highly skilled artists, such as C. Gaeto. Union National Furniture closed their doors in 1994.
Call it a buffet, call it a sideboard, or call it a credenza or console. But, whatever you call this gorgeous piece by Union National Inc., you simply MUST call it yours!!
