That’s right, we have a marvelous overscale Michoacan green glazed clay pottery pineapple sculpture with a removeable crown lid, Made in Mexico in the style of Hilario Alejos Madrigal. Michoacan handcrafts & Folk Art is a Mexican regional tradition centered in the state of Michoacan which is located in central west Mexico. There are numerous pottery-making communities and often the entire family works at the craft preparing the clay before its molding. Hilario Alejos Madrigal is a famous pottery artisan from Michoacan known for his “pineapple” ceramic & pottery pieces. His version with the green glaze is best known and he has won several awards for his work which is also featured in a large reference book called Grandes Maestros del Arte Popular Mexicano by Fomento Cultural Banamex. Our pineapple is not signed; however, it is stamped “Made in Mexico” and it certainly resembles his phenomenal works and demands attention! At 32 inches tall including the crown and 17 inches in diameter, it will be a wonderful focal point on a tiki bar or table in the sunroom, as a centerpiece on a dining table, or on a column, buffet, sideboard, or sofa table in the living room among other tropical pieces or standing alone. Magnificent Michoacan large or overscale green glazed clay pottery pineapple jar/sculpture Made in Mexico in the style of Hilario Alejos Madrigal. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, there were a few of chips on the feet & a couple of the points that were touched up by our artisan staff, but we dare you to find them! Lol.
