Description

Excuse me… Did someone say Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin?? YES, PLEASE!!! This is an absolutely MAGNIFICENT Less is More II Collection modular 5 piece sectional sofa by famed designer Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin. It is composed of 1 single straight piece, 2 wedges, 1 double cushion straight piece, and an upholstered sector shaped end table with a laminate top. The Less is More II Collection line surfaced in 1982 with Baughman’s philosophy of quality over quantity. He was quoted in a Knight-Ridder newspaper article stating, “I think a room should have fewer pieces of furniture but better quality furniture.” You are correct Mr. Baughman, size does matter!! And the quality of this line is unparalleled!! We are selling this beloved beauty as “frame only” as it’s off-white quilted fabric has seen better days and will need to be reupholstered. The seat cushions & back pillow cushions are all loose & zippered, so it’s convenient for upholstering & cleaning purposes. And we NEVER think of reupholstering as a negative because we LOVE new fabrics!! I mean, just THINK of the possibilities!! Maybe a marvelous Mohair, something bright & velvety, or keep it simple with something more traditional if that’s your favored choice. The bones of this sofa are SO spectacular that anything you choose will be divine!!! And have we mentioned versatility… WOW!!! Talk about considerable configurations!!!! It is VERY modular. We have it photographed in a couple of different set ups, but you could also use the double cushion section as a sofa and the single straight piece as a chaise lounge. Plenty of PERFECTLY pulchritudinous possibilities!! (LOL, it means “beautiful!”) I’m trying to sound super sophisticated folks… we ARE talking about a MILO BAUGHMAN for THAYER COGGIN piece!!! It bears refined straight lines, an attractive timeless presence, and an EXCLUSIVE classic Modern style that can only be captured through the undeniable GENIUS collaboration of Baughman & Coggin.

One of the most remarkable partnerships in the mid-century modern to modern design world was the phenomenal furniture making duo of Milo Baughman and Thayer Coggin. Milo Baughman, a 20th Century genius of design, was born in Western Kansas in 1923 but was moved a year later by his family to Long Beach, California. He created Milo Baughman Design Inc. in 1947 and began designing interiors and furniture. Thayer Coggin was born in 1922 in Denton, North Carolina. Twelve years later his family moved 25 miles north to High Point where he grew up surrounded by furniture manufacturing. Thayer’s first love was furniture and Milo’s was design. So, together in 1953, after the two met, history was made in American furniture making by one of the greatest collaborations in the industry. During his career and before his death in 2003, Milo did design for several other companies as well as his own, but it is his collaboration with Thayer Coggin that is most impressive and sought-after today. Thayer Coggin, Inc. is still in business today even after its namesake’s death and is still offering classic selections from the late Baughman’s designs.

Iconic designer & maker, incomparable style, superb comfort, and unlimited style functions!!! We know you MUST love this classic, sensational sectional from the Less is More II Collection line by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin… What’s not to love? We suggest you don’t wait… make it YOURS!!!!
