Janice Wetzel was born in 1917 and would go on to study at Chicago Art Institute, North Shore Art League, the Evanston Art Center, & the Instituto de Allende in Mexico. She graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago. She married fellow artist and Disney animator Ross Wetzel on March 11, 1941. During the 1960’s – 1970’s she exhibited her art at several shows including the Illinois State Fair, Lake Forest College, Mundelein College, the Sun Times, the Union League Club of Chicago, and she represented in many private collections. She was awarded by the Evanston Women’s Club. The North Shore Art League, and the Union League Club. Later, she & her husband started a serigraphy & framing business in Wilmette, Illinois called Ross Wetzel Studios. They eventually moved to Sun City Hilton Head in September 2000 where they continued to paint until her passing in 2004.
