Bold and sleek is how I would describe these fabulous vintage rubber armchairs designed by Brian Kane and manufactured originally by Mertropolitan Furniture Company. Metropolitan Furniture Company or Metro was purchased in the 1980’s by Steelcase. The designer, Brian Kane, joined the design staff of Metro in 1977. He became one of four partners and assumed the job of Vice Presidnet of Design and Product Development less than three years later and remained 2 years after the purchase by Steelcase. The chair is made of black steel encased in EPDM rubber tubing with red upholstered seats. They are in wonderful ready to use vintage condition. Manufacture date of this set of 6 red and black rubber armchairs is 1992.
