Description
This set of 6 antique Chinese Chippendale dining side chairs still have their original finish and all the years of wear and patina. You may choose to refinish or restore them but I love them just as they are. Of course I would add new fabric to the seats. I believe these chairs to be circa late 1800’s to early 1900’s but look like the drop in seats have been reupholstered and some lovely repairs were made to make them sturdier sometime in the 1920-30’s; however, they may need a little re-glue to be at their best. They have a much more dainty look and feel than most Chinese Chippendale chairs and their carving is much more simple, which is very appealing. The cabriole front legs have acanthus carving on the knees and ball and claw feet. The black splat beneath the wavy top rail is pierced and carved with Gothic-style elements as opposed to Chinese motifs. This is a beautiful set of 6 antique Chinese Chippendale chairs to be treasured for a lifetime.
