19th to Early 20th Century Indonesian Maduran Red Painted & Gilded Tall Cabinet or Storage Chest

Tall, Narrow, and Oh-So-Handsome!!! This is a wonderful antique Indonesian Maduran cabinet or storage chest hand painted primarily bright red with some lovely green & gilded details. It bears a tall, narrow frame decoratively finished on both sides & the front with a single door embellished with fantastic hand carved & painted details & symbols with a hook latch & a bail handle pull on the side & two wood shelves behind the door. Given the construction and presence of the wood on the back of the cabinet and the inside storage space, we believe it was likely custom made & it bears an unmistakable, quite nostalgic character. It features an IMPRESSIVE removeable trapezoid shaped top crown and the entire cabinet stands on a solid base with no openings. And, it has eye hooks in the back of the cabinet so you can attach/hook it to the wall… and you will want to attach it to a wall or solid surface… or this baby WILL fall forward!! This cabinet exhibits characteristics very common to traditional Indonesian furniture particularly the intricate ornamental details, rich red background, and elaborate raised & gilded symbols & motifs.
