We are loving these quirky little guys here at the shop. Six various sized Tonala Mexican pottery owls. They are each a lovely hand painted piece of folk art. They all have a white background and are adorned with varying designs in colors of blue, brown, and black with touches of green, red, and yellow. Two are marked Mexico the other four are not. Tonala is one of the major ceramic centers in Jalisco, Mexico. They are internationally recognized for their techniques and decorative styles and most importantly with these high fire ceramics. The clay found there is so fine that the works made with it are like porcelain. These adorable owls are but one of the types of animals you can find which are made using a molding process. This type of pottery pre-dates the Hispanic period. These six guys make such an attractive yet fun little vignette. You need to make them yours.
