S and G is short for Scheurich and Greulich, a company founded in 1928 as a wholesaler of glass, porcelain and ceramics. Approximately 1950 they began the production of their own ceramics, including vases, and ceased the wholesale operation completely around 1953-54 to concentrate on their own ceramic production. They changed their name around that time to Scheurich, who is still in production today.
