Mid-Century Modern Homecrest White Painted Metal Glider & Taupe Vinyl Cushions & Button Detail

I remember years ago sitting on the front porch in a swing with my grandma as a young girl and she would tell me stories about the changing seasons…I can still feel the light blowing breeze in my hair, the warmth of the setting sun on my face, and the loving embrace of her arm around my shoulder. Some of the best memories can be made when you take the time to sit in a swing with someone you love and converse about life, tell jokes or stories, or never say a word. This is a fabulous mid-century modern outdoor patio glider by Homecrest Furniture. It is comprised of a freshly painted white curved frame and two taupe vinyl cushions with button detail. It’s just lovely. Can’t you just imagine leaning back and relaxing on your back deck, front porch, or lanai in this super comfortable loveseat glider swing? Cozy up with your sweetie in front of the pool, outdoor firepit, or just your beautiful back yard and glide away the stress of the day.

Homecrest began as an offspring of a retail furniture shop in Wadena, Minn. in 1953, when founders Mert Bottemiller and Al Engelmann set out to build a better ottoman than their vendors could supply. They soon expanded their business into manufacturing with a growing line of indoor and outdoor patio furniture. As retail sales prospered, distribution expanded into new markets including international, and contract for resorts, restaurants, and health care. The Homecrest outdoor patio furniture line also grew, with a stream of new collections, products and innovations which included self-adjusting chaise, swivel rocker recliner and chaise, gliders, padded slings and technically innovative fabrics, very low maintenance aluminum mesh, and the popular Comfort Recliner. They still manufacture some of the highest quality products with timeless designs and comfort. Homecrest has been redefined with new leaders, owners, manufacturing strategies, and a bold new emphasis on marketing and trend-driven designs.

They say life needs more fireflies and front porch swings…. Well, we may not be able to supply the fireflies, but we have the perfect glider for your front porch! So, get ready to go catch some fireflies and make this glider yours!!

Mid-Century Modern Salterini Pair Neva-Rust Patio Dining Chairs

Time for a PATIO PARTY!!! Take another look at this awesome pair of mid-century modern Neva-Rust patio chairs by Salterini. We have a sneaking suspicion that they were designed by Maurizio Tempestini, but we cannot confirm that so…either way, they’re FABULOUS!! We felt like this wonderful pair of Salterini chairs were better served leaving them in their original vintage condition SO they wear their original yellow linen looking textured faux leather fabric on their back and seats and have a marvelous all over patina on the painted wrought iron frames. Keep in mind that they are vintage, there are signs of wear and use, but we feel that it adds beauty and character to their appearance. This awesome pair of chairs would be just the right touch to your patio or seating for your outdoor bar. They would also be wonderful on your apartment balcony, in a sunroom, or on the deck of your lanai. They will work just about anywhere! You know you love them, now…just make them yours!!

It is rectangular in shape and comprised of white molded plastic made in a Parsons style with removable legs…just in case you would like to store it in the winter. Pair MCM Outdoor PVC Side Chairs Yellow Vinyl Upholstery by Decorion Fun Furnishings

Cool outdoor furniture is sometimes hard to come by and that is why we love these chairs so darn much. Just look at these mid-century modern beauties! They are going to look perfect on your patio, deck, or porch. These are made by Decorion Fun Furnishings and fun they are! We don’t know who designed for Decorion, but these are done in the style of Jerry Johnson’s PVC chairs he designed circa 1968 for Landes Manufacturing Co. And, although this pair is manufactured in Mississippi, they are definitely in that California Design Style realm. Johnson was involved in creating the “new” material, polyvinyl chloride, or PVC plastic used in these chairs too. He formed it into tubes and slats to produce several chair designs. This pair is comprised of the white PVC frame which is very square and almost directors chair-like with a yellow vinyl sling and cushion. Totally bright and cheery. They make me happy just to look at them. Make them yours!

Pair of Landes PVC Outdoor Idyllwild Lounge Chairs w/ Green Mesh Upholstery by Jerry Johnson

This pair of outdoor lounge chairs is just too cool!! They are called the Idyllwild Chair and designed by Jerry Johnson for Landes Manufacturing Co. circa 1968. Johnson was also involved in creating the “new” material called polyvinyl chloride, or PVC plastic which he formed into tubes and slats to produce not only the Idyllwild chair but several other bent tubular-frame designs. This pair has a Kelly-green mesh sling as well as back and seat cushions. They are adorned with white contrasting buttons. I’m going to quote an excerpt from the book California Design by Jo Lauria and Suzanne Baizerman   that best describes these chairs:

Johnson’s Idyllwild Chair and Lounge Chair and Ottoman revealed the versatility of the material and its rich design possibilities. The Idyllwild Chair, made of interlocking PVC tubes rolled down at the edges, presented a casual and whimsical form, while the flowing, curved geometries of the tubular-framed Lounge Chair and Ottoman gave a move elegant and elevated presence to outdoor furnishings. Each expressed a boldness that was highly regarded by the exhibition jury.

These super cool outdoor chairs will be absolutely perfect on your patio, deck or porch. We are totally in love and know you are too. Make them yours!

Antique Salmon Red Concrete Garden Urn Planter

This incredible antique garden urn should be yours! Comprised of concrete and having an old and patinated salmon colored original paint finish, which we are assuming is to replicate terracotta. It has been provided with a center drain hole and originally came from a home in a prestigious housing development from the early 20th century. Its proportion and symmetry are outstanding, and it is adorned with a wonderful leaf style pattern. We know this would look fabulous outside, as was its intended use; however, I have used it in our showroom as a centerpiece on many a dining table and it is simply stunning. It has held everything from fruit to Christmas orbs and pinecones to poinsettias. You just need to let your imagination soar. But first, you need to make this beautiful urn and sample of early 20th century American architecture yours.

Architectural Pottery of California

Wow! How can something so simple be so completely wonderful and beautiful?! This is an iconic cylindrical planter by Architectural Pottery of California. In the most iconic color…white. It is monumental in size as was typical of their pots. I can’t tell you which of the wonderful designers who did designs for them did this particular pot. It could have been LaGardo Tackett or Malcolm Leland or David Cressey or John Follis or Rex Goode who all designed iconic monumental work for Architectural Pottery. Just one look at one of their pots and you know it. Almost every California mid-century modern home had one; especially if they were designed by John Lautner or Richard Neutra who used them in most of their modernist homes. Plus, well known mid-century photographer Julius Shulman featured Architectural Pottery’s products in almost every photo he took!

Architectural Pottery was founded by husband and wife Max (1911-2010) and Rita (1919-1999) Lawrence in 1950 after Rita saw the awesome potential of students’ designs at the California School of Art in Pasadena. These were students of LaGardo Tackett who carried out a class project to create designs to fill a void in the home accessories market. Architectural Pottery’s iconic designs were devoid of ornamentation and mostly monumental in scale using geometric forms like cylinders, cones, gourds, and totems. John Caldwell, a former employee of Architectural Pottery was known to say, “just about every significant architectural project of the 1950s had to have an Eames chair and an Architectural Pottery pot in it.” AP had to shut down in 1985 after a fire destroyed the Manhattan Beach manufacturing plant. In 1998 Vessel USA Inc. was founded to revive the beautiful planters and other ceramic designs and created their Architectural Pottery Collection. Never fear the new pots are clearly marked with Vessel USA Inc. so it is easy the tell the vintage from the new even if you couldn’t tell from their beautiful patina that only age and use can affect.

We know you have fallen in love with the simple form and gorgeous matte white glaze on this monumental pot just as we have. Make it yours!!

Polished Aluminum Tulip Shaped Swivel Lounge Chairs by Russell Woodard Set of Four

These are the epitome of mid-century modern sunroom furniture! Attributed to Russell Woodard circa 1960s and comprised of polished aluminum and chrome with such a sculptural form. Their curving back sweeps down and around to form the arms in a rather curvaceous bucket shape. The bucket seat is perched atop a chrome swivel base. Most of these Woodard aluminum tulip-shaped chairs have the same aluminum base as the bucket seat and can be used outside; however, this set has a chromed base that would not be suitable for the out of doors. They will, however, be suitable and look fabulous in your sun room, living room, family room, entryway, bedroom, or any room you choose! Just make them yours.
