Vintage 1970s Modern Brass Plate Console Sofa Table with Glass Top After Karl Springer

Vintage 1970s Modern Brass Plate Console Sofa Table with Glass Top After Karl Springer

Bold and beautiful! I flipped when I saw this table and knew I had to have it to offer to you. Although it can be found on the internet attributed to Karl Springer it is my opinion that it is not his gorgeous work but styled after his iconic pieces. It does have his bold and simple signature styling with its substantial brass plated tubular steel base which has an angular abstract profile. Somewhat Z-shaped. The glass has a beveled edge and rounded corners. Simply stunning! This console table has lots of presence without taking up much space with its overall smaller stature. It will look fantastic in an entry or dining room or behind a sofa. You just need to make it yours!

Maitland Smith Hollywood Regency Tessellated Stone Veneer U Shaped Console Sofa Table

Maitland Smith Hollywood Regency Tessellated Stone Veneer U Shaped Console Sofa Table

We fell in love with this gorgeous Hollywood Regency console sofa table and had to get it for the shop so we could offer it to you. Made by Maitland-Smith, providers of fine home furnishings and circa 1980s-1990s. It is comprised of a tessellated marble veneer in a fabulous rosy-rusty creamy coloration. It has a brass inlay in its edges and the front is scalloped and flows gently into an airfoil or wing shape for the u-shape’s legs creating a stunning silhouette. This table is extremely solid and well-constructed which is only outdone by its beauty. That beauty is subtle and sneaks up on you taking center stage upon examination of its intricacies. You must make it yours.

Maitland Smith, currently a division of Heritage Home Group, was founded in 1979 by a well-known London antique dealer and designer. Originally located in Hong Kong to reproduce 18th-century furniture and accessories such as Chippendale mahogany dining chairs and other finely carved and hand-crafted pieces. Use of unique materials i.e. bronze, brass, porcelain, coromandel, wrought iron, leather, shagreen, lacquer, and eggshell required sourcing efforts throughout Southeast Asia. In 1981 their home base shifted from Hong Kong to the Philippines where they built their own manufacturing operation. This change allowed for a broader product offering, greater freedom of creativity to their designers, and better control over their product resulting in higher quality pieces. They were able to add more modern designs to their offerings and additional unique materials such as stone mosaic, rattan, coconut shell, faux tortoise shell, mother of pearl and many other unusual mediums. Each one of their hand-made pieces is a work of art.

Carved Wood Faux Bois Sofa Console Table with Ivory Painted Finish and Glass Top Insert

This elegant sofa table is comprised of carved wood legs and frame to mimic twigs and branches of a tree in a faux bois style. The detail is wonderful with knotholes and stumps from trimmed branches. They have even carved the detail of faux leather lashes where the limbs would be lashed together to form the frame and the legs. The whole is painted an intriguing neutral color. We are not sure whether to call it ivory, buff or bone. Maybe linen? Whatever color we call it is it stunning. You need to make it your own.
