The gently rippling form of this chair is intended to follow the contours of the body thereby being very ergonomic and making them extremely comfortable. The Vignellis are quoted as saying they used a handkerchief as their inspiration for the chairs design, hence their name; Handkerchief Chair. Knoll’s description of the chair states, they capture the lightness and organic ease of a handkerchief drifting in the wind. This set of two are comprised of a gray fiberglass reinforced polyester seat and backrest with a base of steel wire finished in brightly polished chrome. They are in excellent new old stock condition and ready to use. Please examine the photos and don’t hesitate to ask for more. Handsome pair of Knoll Handkerchief side chairs in gray with chromed steel wire base. This chair was designed by the husband and wife team of Massimo and Lella Vignelli for Knoll circa 1985. They are in excellent condition and what I would consider new old stock as we received them with their original protective wrapping still in place. They have the Knoll metal plate with signature attached. I would place them as circa late 20th century examples.
