Such a great comfy chair!! Although this Plycraft attributed lounge chair is deemed a knock-off of the Eames lounge chair, many people think the Plycraft lounge is much more comfortable. This particular rendition has a higher back and therefore is better suited to this generation of taller adults. It also tilts and is not in one lounging position. As far as designer determination is concerned, I’ve seen many of the Plycraft lounge chairs attributed to George Mulhauser; however, I have not found corroborating evidence that he designed any other lounge for Plycraft other than the Mr. Chair, which this is not. But……….no matter. This is one wonderful classic vintage mid-century modern chair! It is in great vintage condition. The aluminum five prong base has some age marks and there are a few little nicks and dings on the plywood, but it has its original saddle brown upholstery; but, therein lies another enigma, is it leather or Naugahyde? Whichever, it is in excellent vintage condition apart from a discoloration of the arm pad which seems to have happened to all of these particular chairs. All in all, we feel it is ready for you to use. If we can pry ourselves out of it long enough to ship! You should make it yours.
Mid Century Modern Lounge Chair Attributed to Selig Plycraft and in the Style of Eames
$1,495
This Eames-style, Naugahyde or leather-upholstered molded walnut lounge chair hails from the 1960s and is a classic reproduction of the iconic Eames lounge chair. Attributed to Selig Plycraft, this mid-century chair has gained a cult following, in its own right, for its well-crafted design and its exceptionally less expensive purchase value for those who still want to show appreciation for the iconic designs coming out of the 50’s and 60’s. It is in wonderful vintage condition with normal wear and tear. There are small nicks and dings to the base, the plywood has had its small imperfections repaired, and there is a slight discoloration to the arm pads and a few little pinhole pricks on left of seat but nothing outstanding. See photos. Circa 1960s.
