Description

This fantastic wall sculpture looks fabulous from every direction! It should definitely be hanging on your wall! Comprised of stylized gold tone metal birds in flight welded together to create a flock. You can hang it level or hang is askew, and it still looks wonderful. Signed and dated C. Jere 1989, it was created by Curtis Jere who is not a single artist but is a nom-de-plume for a group of artists working for Artisan House.

Artisan House artists included founders Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels and Curtis Jere is a combination of their names. Before founding Artisan House these two friends and brothers-in-law had built a costume jewelry business which sold under the names of Renoir and Matisse, two well-known names of mid-20th century costume jewelry. During the mid-20th century, the C. Jere sculptures and metal work were distributed by Raymor, a well-known name in Mid Century collectibles, and sold at Gump’s in San Francisco and other upscale retail establishments. Jerry Fels died 11/5/07 and Curtis Freiler, his brother-in-law passed 7/22/13 at a ripe old age of 103. But their legacy lives on in these fabulous sculptures. Over the years Artisan House was sold and resold remaining in business today.

You know you want these beautiful birds. Make this intriguing brutalist style sculpture yours!
