Don Freedman Modern Textile Woven Wall Hanging #436 c/o Tree Time Inc. for Interlude

A wall hanging extraordinaire! This is a gorgeous woven wall hanging made in India and designed by Don Freedman c/o Tree Time Inc. for Interlude Inc. It has a copyright tag on the back labeling it as design #436 and detailing the composition of jute, wool, art silk, wood, and cotton. On the front, it bears a round red clay label with Don Freedman’s signature. This wall hanging is a beautiful display of jute fiber blend that has been woven, weaved, boucle, knotted, fringed, baste stitched, and layered to create a wall unit that takes your breath away. Let’s start at the top… Narrow, vertical wood bars bound tightly with jute fiber blend hold the unit. Below the bars begin the layers starting with knotted boucle, followed by white baste stitching, three layered strands of fringe in multiple lengths, and below that, another layer of tightly woven wood bars. It finishes off with a single strand of knotted fringe along the bottom which starts shorter on the ends and gets longer into the center. And there is a white square harlequin design within the fringe in the low center of the wall hanging. The intricate attention to detail in this piece is magnificent. If you have tall or vaulted ceilings or a large empty wall that needs something wonderful, you just found it. It would look stunning above a sofa, over a credenza, or on the wall along the stairway. We think it would be an awesome substitute for a headboard with a Hollywood frame under the mattress. It has a modern, bohemian style and will add great texture to any room.
