When we found this piece, we discovered Joel Edwards. And we are in love!! The lid had gotten separated from the pot and we had what we thought were two pieces by Joel Edwards. A candle holder and a vessel missing its lid. We were disappointed. Then I did my research and realized our candle holder was, in reality, the missing lid to the bowl. Simply amazing!! This Joel Edwards signature style would be unmistakable even if unsigned. There is no mistaking his unusual forms and beautiful glazes. An interesting ribbed vessel in an olive drab earth-tone glaze is paired with this fabulous lid with is variegated glaze which ranges from olive drab to black to cobalt blue. Joel Edwards, a California ceramicist, studied under Peter Voulkos at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles in 1954. You can see Voulkos influence in his work. We are totally head over heels for this lidded vessel and know you are as well. Make it yours.
