Is there anything as marvelous as a Maitland-Smith piece??? Hmmmm, we think NOT!!! Especially a vintage piece as remarkable as this desk!!! This is an incredible vintage Regency style faux partners or writing desk by Maitland-Smith comprised of a magnificent two-toned mahogany frame with a wonderful curule or trestle base and its spectacular splayed legs are capped with beautiful brass sabots covering brass casters and an attractive turned stretcher connects each side of the base. Both sides of the base and drawer fronts bear artisan hand carved inlays of diamonds and spears and the desktop features three gorgeous gold & brown embossed Florentine leather inserts, one over each drawer. It has a lighter toned mahogany center drawer and two darker toned mahogany side drawers each bearing small, (but mighty impressive) brass star escutcheons with round center bead hardware. WOW!!!! Now… here’s the kicker!! The back is identical to the front… it appears to have three drawers with matching hardware HOWEVER… the drawers do not open… hence, the title “FAUX partners desk.” That being said, it has an all-over stunning finish and it will float beautifully in any room whether in an executive office, study, den, or as a catch-all in your entry! Have a newly appointed home office? This desk is just what you’ve been looking for AND its spectacular Regency style will host almost any style desk chair and if you’re in need of one, we have several desk chairs listed here for sale that would pair nicely with this desk! Check them out!!
