This chair is SINGLE and ready to MINGLE… right into your home!!!! And I’m here to tell you… it is SO attractive, it’s going to be hard to resist!! That’s right, this is a GORGEOUS vintage accent chair by The Charlotte Chair Company comprised of a sultry black painted wood frame featuring a handsome radial weave natural cane back inset, a stunning newly upholstered off-white canvas seat, sexy splayed square back legs (which is also the back support,) beautiful recessed brass ring upper leg details on the front and they’re topped with sassy brass sabots. I mean… HELLO!!! (Insert whistle!) It also features an attractive top rail with pointed sides and if you look closely at the photos you will see some distressing in the black paint on the frame. Well, we felt like this patina enhanced the original unique-ness of the piece and almost took us on a journey through the life it’s lived. We didn’t want to mess with that story so we chose not to alter it. However, we DID decide if this chair was going to put itself out there into the world, it would need a wardrobe change. I mean, we all love pink roses on the right occasion, but THIS was just un-flattering… and quite distracting of all of the incredible features this chair has to offer. We think this fabulous new off-white attire compliments the figure of this beauty MUCH better!! More like that “little black dress.” Now, it goes anywhere!! Sometimes simplicity speaks volumes and now this chair is ready to be HEARD!!! LOL!! And don’t let the sleek figure of this baby fool you… it’s quite heavier than it looks… (shhh!) what we mean is, it is sturdy and SOLID! It is Hollywood Regency in style with a little Art Deco flair but its presence will compliment many décor styles whether Mid-Century Modern, Minimalist, Maximalist, or Neoclassical!! And it is versatile enough to go just about anywhere! Whether in a dressing area, a corner of your bedroom, an accent chair in your sitting room, or at the entry for a chic spot to remove your shoes. Let me tell you… this is the one you’ve been looking for!!
Charlotte Chair Company was established in 1912 by E. J. Elles & Frank Spaulding but eventually in 1921, E.J. Ellis became the sole owner and the plant grew tremendously. At that time the company’s only product was dining room chairs, which had a special locking method to secure the seat and arms to the back of the chair. It was merchandised with furniture from other manufacturers. By 1935, Edward Elles joined the company and would soon become the GM and eventually, the sole owner. The company would go on to build many chairs for commercial businesses such as offices, restaurants, and the Chicago Civic Center. By 1956, the company changed focus and began repairing and reproducing antique chairs and then in 1969, the Charlotte Chair Company sold to The Illinois Iron and Bolt Company.
When something as FANTASTIC as THIS little number hits the market… everyone is ready to sink their claws in!! Don’t let this phenomenal accent chair by The Charlotte Chair Company be the “one that got away!” Do it… Make it YOURS!!!
