Stow & Davis furniture company was founded in 1885 by George A. Davis when he purchased Thomas Haight’s interest in Stow & Haight and changed the name to Stow & Davis. Since then, the company has consistently grown and expanded to become one of the foremost leaders of the industry and is still in business today. The firm primarily produced kitchen, dining, and office extension tables. In 1928, the firm acquired Grand Rapids Desk Company, and the same year produced the first wood and steel framework desk in the wood furniture industry and would go on to produce many landmark furniture pieces such as The Progression lines I, II, and III from 1930-1960’s, The biomorphic “bubble chair” and the “Electa Series” between 1965-1970, and the “Free Dimensional” furniture wall system and “cube desk” series in 1974.
