Description

Baker launched the Far East Collection in 1948 and it survived well into the 1970’s. These vintage Baker Far East Collection style dining chairs are, hopefully, part of that collection. Although listed as Baker on several sites, I have found no official evidence these chairs are part of that collection. These chairs are not marked Baker, yet the dining table and buffet I purchased them with are. In addition, the Far East Collection is touted far and wide on the internet as being designed by the famed Michael Taylor; yet, I have searched the internet over and cannot find evidence that these particular chairs are Baker nor designed by Michael Taylor except for several sites selling identical chairs so…………you be the judge. They are, however, beautiful, wonderfully designed and sturdy chairs. The “floating” seat above the chinoiserie black laquered base is fabulous. This particular set of 5 chairs is upholstered in a blue-gray velvet, possibly original but not sure. Their condition is very good vintage with wear appropriate to age. Since this is a set of 5, I will consider selling 1 or 4 as well, just contact us.
