In Japanese culture, it is said that the Green Pheasant is a messenger of Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess. Amaterasu was the ruler of the heavens, so her association with the Pheasant made it a symbol of power, abundance, and promise. And we PROMISE that you are about to fall in LOVE with this marvelous pair of faux jade pheasant carvings made for WONY Ltd. Italy!!! Although we have researched extensively, we have found little information on WONY Ltd. Italy. These awesome carvings are identical and comprised of faux jade carved resin pheasants, branches, and blooms sitting atop a beautiful black resin base. The female pheasant is perched upon a branch below the male gazing up at him with a sweet, loving stare. He has a proud masculine stance and his long tail feathers flow within the leaves of the branches. Japanese pheasants are the national bird of Japan because they are brave, lovable, and apparently……tasty. According to the Metro-classic Japanese podcast hosted by Kyota Ko, he explained that pheasants are the only bird species in the world that is both a national bird and a game bird. Eating them is in fact the Japanese way of preserving the species. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want to tell the Sun Goddess that I just ate her messenger for lunch, but maybe that’s just me! Hahaha…just kidding! And though we certainly don’t want you to consume these carvings, we do hope you will enjoy their magnificent presence! They are going to be a wonderful addition to the display cabinet or hutch in the dining room, on the console or sofa table in the living room or surrounded by foliage and other chinoiserie décor on a shelf or etagere in almost any room! Haven’t you fallen in love already? Of course, you have! Well, don’t wait, make them YOURS!!!
