This is a FABULOUS vintage mid-century modern black vinyl webbed and aluminum framed settee attributed to Brown Jordan for the Kantan Collection by Tadao Inouye. It is comprised of a fabulous black powder coated aluminum frame with a curved X base and black woven vinyl strap webbing which forms the back and seats of the settee. It’s very comfortable and is exactly the piece you need on your back patio or deck, front porch, or out by the pool! Maybe in your sunroom or out on your lanai? The Kantan Collection was originally designed for Brown Jordan in the 1950s by Tadao Inouye and was chosen by the Department of Commerce to be a part of the U.S. exhibit at the 1959 Industrial World’s Fair in Tokyo. “Kantan also won an award from Alcoa, because aluminum back then was brand-new for outdoor,” Elton describes. “Leaf through old LIFE magazines and Saturday Evening Posts, and you’ll see shots of it with the Kennedys, Bob Hope and William Holden.
