We are in LOVE with this LOVE SEAT!!!!! Isn’t it GORGEOUS?? We certainly think so. This is a handsome modern tuxedo style love seat from the Designer’s Group Collection by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin!! We believe this wonderful sofa enjoyed some time in the sun… maybe in front of a wonderful picture window enjoying some fabulous scenery, as it wears its original fabric… which is pretty sun faded all-over, but in good enough shape to enjoy it for a while. It is a brownish cocoa base with orange-ish squares and geometric lines. It has two loose seat cushions, two loose back cushions, and sits upon a recessed wood platform base. The base is actually comprised of an exotic zingana wood veneer which was used by Thayer Coggin in the 70’s. It is going to look amazing in your mid-century modern to modern living room, in the den flanking the fireplace, or in the family room next to a fabulous lounge chair. In addition, it would look marvelous in an industrial setting, contemporary country home, or surrounded by some Hollywood Regency decor. This is the perfect spot to cozy up with your sweetie and watch a movie or escape all by yourself wrapped up in a blanket with your favorite book! Superb comfort, versatility, and impeccable style… And did we mention… Milo Baughman and Thayer Coggin? This love seat has it all!!
One of the most remarkable partnerships in the mid-century modern to modern design world was the phenomenal furniture making duo of Milo Baughman and Thayer Coggin. Milo Baughman, a 20th Century genius of design, was born in Western Kansas in 1923 but was moved a year later by his family to Long Beach, California. He created Milo Baughman Design Inc. in 1947 and began designing interiors and furniture. Thayer Coggin was born in 1922 in Denton, North Carolina. Twelve years later his family moved 25 miles north to High Point where he grew up surrounded by furniture manufacturing. Thayer’s first love was furniture and Milo’s was design. So, together in 1953, after the two met, history was made in American furniture making by one of the greatest collaborations in the industry. During his career and before his death in 2003, Milo did design for several other companies as well as his own, but it is his collaboration with Thayer Coggin that is most impressive and sought-after today. Thayer Coggin, Inc. is still in business today even after its namesake’s death and is still offering classic selections from the late Baughman’s designs.
