Oh my… look at this GORGEOUS GLASSWARE!! Dorothy Thorpe is simply mid-century modern and Hollywood Regency glamour at its finest! And here is a fabulous set of fourteen pieces: including six smaller silver rimmed ombre roly poly glasses; a chrome drink caddy with a handle; six taller Mercury fade or ombre Tom Collins glasses; and a cocktail pitcher or carafe with no handle, so you will have to enjoy your martini stirred, not shaken!! This set is not marked Dorothy Thorpe; however, it is most definitely attributed to her over and over so………!? They are definitely in the style of her silver fade design. Ms. Thorpe, like her contemporaries George Briard and Fred Press, designed but did not manufacture her stunning creations. Her wonderful designs were created using sandblasting, silver overlay and paint speckle on simple blank glassware from U.S. and European manufacturers. Every chic Mid-Century Modern home had something by Dorothy Thorpe. Having a mid-morning brunch? This would be an extraordinary way to serve fresh orange juice, mimosas, or lemonade or maybe you’re having a dinner party and want to serve up a pitcher of martinis, margaritas, iced tea, or a Tom Collins! What a sophisticated set of glassware to impress your guests! And, if you aren’t entertaining, they will look marvelous sitting on your buffet, at your bar, or in your China or display cabinet! Absolutely pure mid-century modern exquisiteness with a bit of Hollywood Regency sass! This is an iconic set of glassware with a timeless design. You should quickly make them yours!
Vintage Silver Rimmed Ombre 14 Piece Cocktail Glassware Set Collins & Roly Polys & Pitcher Attributed to Dorothy Thorpe
$1,195
Stunning vintage silver rimmed ombre 14-piece cocktail glassware set attributed to Dorothy Thorpe. The set is comprised of six roly poly glasses in a chrome caddy with handle, 6 Tom Collins glasses, and a handle less cocktail pitcher or carafe. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. There are some filmy streaks in a couple of the Collins glasses that we were worried to clean more stringently and will leave that to your discretion. But we have found no chips, cracks, or chiggers.
