Description
This vase is so beautiful and stands a full sixteen inches tall. Monumental in size with a classical urn shape which is glazed with a rich deep brown bottom two thirds and a milky antique white drip style glaze on the upper third. Its double urn style handles are formed of an acanthus leaf design. It is a very stunning piece of ceramic in both size and style. It retains its original S & G silver metallic paper sticker.
S and G is short for Scheurich and Greulich, a company founded in 1928 as a wholesaler of glass, porcelain and ceramics. Approximately 1950 they began the production of their own ceramics, including vases, and ceased the wholesale operation completely around 1953-54 to concentrate on their own ceramic production. They changed their name around that time to Scheurich, who is still in production today.
