1920-1940’s Art Deco Streamline Moderne Royalchrome Demilune Console Table Chrome Tube Frame & Black Laminate Top

$2,495

Handsome vintage Art Deco Streamline Moderne demilune console table composed of a chrome tube frame w/a time faded black early laminate top by Royalchrome. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, the laminate top has a time-faded finish that does not detract from its overall beauty. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1920-1940’s.

Description

You make my heart SWOON… Demilune!!! LOL… Yes, I may be in love… I bet you are too! How could you not be?? This a stunning demilune console table bursting with styles including Art Deco, Streamline Moderne, International, & Bauhaus composed of a sultry black (slightly time-faded & fun) early laminate ½ moon or ½ round top edged with a flat, ribbed aluminum banding and supported by a bent chrome tube frame by Royalchrome, manufactured by Royal Metal Manufacturing Co., & designed in the manner of the era’s greats: Wolfgang Hoffman, Warren McArthur, Donald Desky, Alfons Bach, Gilbert Rhode, Kem Weber, and Marcel Breuer. The Streamline Moderne movement emerged in the 1930’s and was an effort to do just that… “streamline” the aesthetics, emphasize curved forms, horizontal lines, grooves, and feature smooth surfaces rounded corners, and a sleek, modern aesthetic inspired by aerodynamic designs of trains, ships, and planes. Both styles emerged during the same era of modernity but while Art Deco style uses bold colors, symmetry, geometric shapes, & more ornate, Streamline Moderne is sleeker & more curvilinear… all about the “future” & moving forward. Fun little history fact!! But THIS particular piece by Royalchrome is just one of many iconic pieces of the era and… for me, has a nostalgic presence as its design is among some of the pieces my mother first fell in love with!! And, let me tell you… as an accomplished interior designer & vintage furniture seller, lover, & elite representative… she knows her STUFF!!! I know her heart would love to keep this piece as it reminds her of some of her first pieces from her days as a younger vintage furniture entrepreneur… but unfortunately… her sales floor is FULL… So, it’s YOUR lucky day!!! It bears a timeless presence that is going to look phenomenal among your other furnishings in almost ANY room in your home!!

Royal Metal Co. started in business in 1897. In 1921 they were purchased by Heywood Wakefield but continued manufacturing under the name of Royal Metal Co. & were prominent Art Deco furniture makers in the 1930’s. They employed some of the great machine age designers, KEM Weber, Donald Deskey, and Alfons Bach to name a few.

This demilune side table is a design CLASSIC by Royalchrome & it blends with many décor styles from industrial, mid-century modern, Art Deco, Bauhaus, and of course, Streamline Moderne. It is timeless and wonderful, and you should own it. So… Make it YOURS!!!
