This is a GORGEOUS pair of dressers by Glenn of California that has been given a fresh coat of off white or vanilla colored lacquer, and they look INCREDIBLE!! They are a waterfall style with six spacious drawers each bearing aluminum accents surrounding the drawers, bullnose side pulls, and wonderful recessed bases. They have TONS of adequate space and they’re EXACTLY what you need to set your bedroom apart from ALL others!! Unless of course, you aren’t in need of dressers, in which case, they are versatile enough to utilize as credenzas in your family room, a pair of buffets in your dining area, or storage cabinets in any room! They would be marvelous under a couple of large mirrors or artwork adorned with foliage, books, framed family photos, a wonderful sculpture, or a fabulous pair of table lamps! These dressers (or credenzas) are Modern to Postmodern in style with a bit of Art Deco Revival flair and we think they would look phenomenal blended with your Contemporary, Hollywood Regency, or Mid-Century Modern pieces or of course, mixed with your modern, postmodern, or art deco revival furnishings. We fell in love with them the moment we saw them and know you have too.
Glenn of California was owned by the father and son team Isaac and Robert Baron and based in Arcadia California and has been credited for being at the forefront of the West Coast modernist design movement in the 1940’s and 1950’s. The company made a name for itself when it hired Milo Baughman. They would go on to hire Swedish architect and designer Greta Magnusson-Grossman, the first woman to receive an award from the Swedish Society of Industrial Design. The significant furniture line she and Baughman designed called the California Modern Collection became known for its laid-back Los Angeles style and integration of walnut, iron, and Formica. Glenn of California collaborated with many notable designers including Kipp Stweart, Paul Laslo, John Kapel, & Stanley Young. Although Glenn of California is no longer in business, their high-end vintage furniture is sought after today.
Call them dressers, call them credenzas, call them cabinets or buffets. But whatever you choose to call these lovely dressers by Glenn of California… you simply MUST call them YOURS!!!
