The Glamorous Glow of a Gorgeous Gucci floor lamp…. Got your attention? Of COURSE, we do!! This is an incredible Art Deco Revival or Postmodern floor lamp by iconic designer Paolo Gucci comprised of an off-white sculpted resin hourglass shaped body with gorgeous Gucci curves, a smooth finish, a square base with rounded edges, and it is wearing its original off-white silk-like bell shade. WOW! Talk about breathtaking!! And quite the reputation follows this 80’s staple floor lamp! The Gucci family spent quite a bit of time in the spotlight with their high-profile family drama. Fashion, fighting, big money, crime and scandal played a major part in the life of Paolo Gucci and his relationships within his family and their business. In 2021, MGM released a movie based on the book, “House of Gucci,” which is a biographical drama film following the life of Paolo and the famous Gucci fashion family dynasty… it’s fascinating if you haven’t seen it! And while I’m not sure whether or not our lamp makes an appearance in the film, it makes a great conversation piece! And, although Paolo may not have inherited his family’s fashion business due to some rivalry and financial issues, he OBVIOUSLY inherited their great eye for style and design!! This lamp is proof of that! Its curvaceous lines and bold presentation will be wonderful in any room that needs a touch Postmodern or Art Deco Revival ambience. Quite frankly, it is EXACTLY what the designer ordered!!
Paolo Gucci was the great-grandson of Guccio Gucci, the 1906 founder of the famed Gucci fashion house. Paolo served as the vice president and managing director at Gucci in 1953 but was fired by his uncle after a year for failing to carry out duties at one of the factories located in Florence. When he left, he launched his own company under his own name where he designed lamps, furniture, bedding accessories, as well as plates, flatware, and a few other items. However, it didn’t work out as he planned, and according to the Associated Press was fired for the second time by his father, Aldo Gucci. After that situation, there was constant conflict in the family. He quit working within the family business in 1980 and sold all his Gucci shares later in 1987 for 45 million dollars. In 1993, Paolo filed for bankruptcy claiming he was in debt upward of 90 million dollars, and he passed away in 1995.
Incredible curves, ideal ambience, and a Gucci reputation to boot! This magnificent vintage sculpted resin floor lamp designed by Paolo Gucci has it ALL. You MUST have it! Make it YOURS!!
