19th to 20th Century Pair of Japanese Textured Black Lacquer Chests w/Hand Painted Asian Details

$3,995

Gorgeous vintage pair of Japanese textured black lacquer chests with hand painted Asian details & patinated brass hardware & feet. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if they have been refinished or restored. Specifically, they are missing their locking pins for their pulls and they bear a “perfectly imperfect” all over patina that can only be achieved through the hands of time including chips, nicks, & dings. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 19th to 20th Century.

Description

The only thing better than a cabinet THIS PHENOMENAL…. Is TWO of them!!!! That’s right folks… you are NOT seeing double, and as similar as they appear at first glance, they are more like “fraternal twins” when we get down to details. They are both composed of beautiful black lacquered frames with a textured finish featuring magnificent, intricately hand painted Asian details including gorgeous gilded butterflies, stunning Geisha wearing wonderful flowing kimonos, marvelous meander trimmed edges, and Asian scenery on the sides, top & double doors & they bear perfectly imperfect patinated brass hinges, hardware, and feet. Tucked away behind the double doors you will find a single shelf in the center of a spacious open area adequate for storing anything you need to stow away! What are their differences, you ask?? Well, other than the differing Asian hand painted details they have adverse aprons. One has a straight apron while the other has a decorative curve. Upon researching whether there is a significance to either style we found that the meaning for variations in Japanese cabinet bases is… Ready for it??? They’re just different! LOL… Other than an aesthetic, there is no super cool fun fact for me to share… SIGH!!!! Oh well, regardless… they are incredible none the least!!! Their marvelous Japanese or Asian style will be beautiful among almost any style décor. They will be FANTASTIC utilized in an entertainment room, large family room, or in a living or dining area filled with linens, towels, books & accessories, & more. How about in your home office, a bedroom, sitting room, or dressing area… This highly functional, very versatile, pair of cabinets bears a phenomenal presence you are sure to love for years to come. Surely you aren’t still thinking about it?? Just do it!! Make them YOURS!!!
