Beautiful carved wood recumbent deer from Thailand. Lacquered with a Chinese red or terracotta color and decorated with glass jewels, mirror, and gilding. It is in wonderful vintage condition with nice age patina. Circa 20^th century.

Description

This carved wood recumbent deer with all its jewels and gilding is a piece I’ve had in my private collection for a bit and have decided to share. I believe it to be 20^th century and from Thailand. He has such a regal look about him. He appears to be carved from one piece of wood, with separate antlers and ears, and lacquered a rich Chinese red or terracotta color and decorated with patches of gilding, glitter, jewels, and mirror pieces. No matter where you put him he will be wonderful. Whether on the mantle, in a bookcase, or on a table. We know you love him. Make him yours.
