Small in size… but BIG in Chinoiserie STYLE!!!! This is a lovely Chinese garden stool or small side table composed of a beautiful black lacquered bulbous frame embellished with wonderful hand painted & gilded Asian details & Lotus flowers. Chinese garden stools date WAAAY back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) where they were used simply as seating in gardens. They were made from materials such as ceramic, wood and even stretched skin! YIKES!! Simplified… they are decorative and functional pieces that originated in China and over time became popular for both decorative interior and functional exterior garden seating and décor. This particular stool would NOT be good outdoors… it’s just too pretty for those outdoor elements!! But it WOULD be fabulous utilized as a small side table next to a shorter chair, as a beautiful base hosting a sculpture or vase, as a decorative bedside table, in a bathroom topped with a small basket of hand towels or washcloths, or among other complementary décor. This stool is pretty petite at 13 ½” Tall x 12” W… but as they say… Good things come in small packages!!! Look… It comes to this… Don’t be a fool… You NEED this STOOL!!! LOL… Just do it. You know you love it. Make it YOURS!!!!
