Long low and lean. This is quite the modern sofa. Originally designed by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin. Two of the most revered names in the home furnishing world. This sofa, however, is unmarked but we do have the original sales invoice from Thayer Coggin for when it was purchased in 1966. Still sporting its original wide wale corduroy or ribbed velvet, as the designers called it in a piece of correspondence to the home owner. The fabric is usable, apart from a repair that has been made to a back corner of one of the cushions and has been cleaned. But, how fantastic would this be in a gorgeous mohair, velvet, or leather? This shape sofa is called a Lawson style with its square profile and arm height stepped down from the back height with the arms extending to the front of the sofa. This Baughman example was called the D 1350 in olive, it has three seat cushions and three loose back cushions, all with zipper closings. There are no legs on this sofa. It sets on a very dark stained plinth base which is recessed slightly on all four sides. This handsome iconic Thayer Coggin sofa is very versatile.
