Mid-20th Century Chinoiserie Regency Style Union National Black Painted & Gilt Dining Table Double Tripod Base

$3,995

Fantastic vintage Chinoiserie and Regency style Union National Inc dining table with black painted & gilt edged top, 3 skirted apron leaves, & pineapple double pillar tripod base with casters. Painted design is signed on tabletop by J. Sheldon. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. Its original finish was beyond “refinishing”, so we have enhanced its already aged appearance with a fabulous new black finish in its center top and touched up its gorgeous, gilded accents and left its fabulous aged patina consisting of nicks, dings, patches, and wear pattern where we could. The center of the table used to be mahogany, but it had too many age flaws, so it was given a fresh coat of black paint. We are in love! Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1940-1960’s.

The Union National Furniture Co. of Jamestown, NY., was formed in 1939 from the National Furniture Co., which had been in business since the early 1890’s. Both companies were owned and operated by the Nord family. The Nords made quality high-end furniture. Union National catered to many famous people including William Holden, Jerry Lewis, Lucile Ball, Wayne Newton, and others. The furniture was expensive and brings top dollar to current day.  All furniture by Union National was made of quality hardwoods and painted pieces were done by highly skilled artists, such as C. Gaeto. Union National Furniture closed their doors in 1994.
