Description
This awesome pair of mid-century modern tub chairs have quite the research story behind them. Their manufacturer tag is missing, most likely because they have been reupholstered. So, we went on the proverbial online hunt for maker and designer. We did find the identical chairs, apart from a button tufted upholstery design, that have a Thayer Coggin tag. But, alas, here lies the confusion and mystery, the tag also says: designed by Milo Baughman. Unfortunately, when we asked for corroboration, the Milo experts say no. He did not design these chairs. They were designed by another, unknown at this time, designer. How can this happen you say? Well let me tell you. It seems the tags with Milo’s name were the only tags available to the Thayer Coggin company at the time, so they just used those tags. Never thinking this would someday become an issue. Wow! We are currently digging and will update this listing to the actual designer when and if we find out. No matter the designer…they are fabulous mid-century modern chairs. Comprised of a beautiful walnut framework of legs and stretchers which support the somewhat egg-shaped tub. The side stretchers have a slight curve to match the curve of the seat, back, and slightly rolled arms that are floating in framework. Their silhouette is simply stunning! This petite pair of chairs will be perfect in your living room or sitting room plus a myriad of other locations. Maybe flanking a fireplace? Just make them yours!
