In 1976 Ralph Lauren won the Coty Award for women’s wear and the Coty Hall of Fame Award for menswear. The signature green bottle Polo fragrance was introduced in 1978. In 1983 Ralph Lauren Home made its debut. This was a first for a clothing designer. The 4 signature motifs were Thoroughbred, New England, Jamaica, and Log Cabin until 1984 when he presented the Safari collection for the film Out of Africa.
