Description
I just adore this peacock fan back wicker rattan chair. It is so fabulous and reminds me of my youth when they were all the rage as they are now. For over a century this beautiful and interesting wicker rattan chair with its peacock like fan back has been showing its face, or should I say tail, in the cyclical work of interior design. Its latest resurgence is calling on its popularity during the 1960s and 1970s pop culture. Originally designed in East Asia as a throne-like head framing seat reserved for royalty it is no wonder it became the place for celebrities, the likes of Brigitte Bardot, Bette Davis, Diana Ross, Dolly Parton, Katherine Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Plant, Jasper John; and, let’s not forget the partially clad Sylvia Kristel in her famous scenes from the cult film series Emmanuel, to be photographed. I’m dubbing this chair’s style Bohemian Hollywood Regency. But don’t let that limit what styles you use it with since it will look equally as fantastic juxtaposed with the clean lines of a mid-century modern aesthetic, a rustic or country décor, and even the stately traditional. This chair will not take a back seat in any room with its unconventional fanned-plume back shape perched on hourglass shaped bases. I think everyone’s porch, patio, terrace, deck, lanai, or living room deserves this chair. Make it yours!
