We are so in love with this restored chair here at the shop. Going to be hard to say good-bye to this one! Designed by the renowned Adrian Pearsall at the height of his career circa 1960s for his company Craft Associates. The chair is comprised of a slender walnut frame with four round tapered legs which taper in both directions. The flat boomerang shaped arms are one continuous piece which curves around creating the support for the small slender oval lumbar back cushion. The seat is slender as well and perches atop the flat crossbars which hold the legs together. Simple and exquisite. We have chosen a fabric that although new resembles a vintage look that Pearsall may have chosen himself. It is in tones of gray, taupe, and black which plays off the warm walnut of the frame beautifully.
Pearsall has become one of the most sought after mid-century modern furniture designers. His pieces with their Atomic Age look are very indicative of that flamboyant time with its futuristic vision and sultry and sexy interiors. Pearsall graduated in 1950 from the University of Illinois with an Architectural Engineering degree and in 1952 founded Craft Associates to manufacture his own designs, which trumpeted in the Atomic Age and have now become mid-century modern design icons.
