This sleek coffee table is the one I yearned for when first married in the 1970s! It has become a design classic. Attributed to Leon Rosen for his New York based company The Pace Collection. It is comprised of a Parsons style square frame of rectangular chromed steel tube with four square marble inserts for its top surface. Each square of marble is separated from the others with a narrow strip of chromed steel. It is magnificent in its simplicity!
The Pace Collection was founded by Irving and Leon Rosen in New York City as a high-end contemporary furniture company which was in business from 1960 to 2001. They offered their fine furniture and services to the contract interior design trade. Their designs were purposefully and distinctly different from Knoll, Herman Miller, Steelcase and other renowned contract furniture companies. Their line of furniture was known for their rich and exotic wood veneers, high-gloss finishes, and shiny metals. Most pieces were made in limited editions or specifically for their elite customers.
This simple yet outstanding icon of contemporary design needs to be yours.
