I believe this to be one of the most gorgeous mid-century modern chairs I have ever seen or acquired. And….one of the most frustrating! I have searched the internet over to find the designer or maker of this beautiful chair. I’ve asked some experts and have come up with very very little. Mostly what it is not. Someone suggested it was by Drexel so maybe designed by Milo Baughman. It is not. Someone else has one they say in the manner of Harvey Probber. It is not. It is shaped almost identically to an aluminum chair by Founder’s Furniture. Now that is who I believe it could be by. But it’s not. It’s not Widdicomb. Nor is it Dunbar. BUT it IS extraordinary with its ice blue velvet button detailed semi loose cushions that are supported by a curved wood frame floating between cylindrical pieces of wood forming the arms and legs. In a rather parsons’ style inverted U. There is a nice functional detail of brass screws and tube spacers that secure the seat and back to the frame. The wood arm has a wrap of velvet. This is an exquisitely made chair. You should have it. Make it yours!!
