This piece has been one of my favorites for a long time. Unfortunately, I have no more room on my walls. It makes me sad. But my loss is your gain! This mid-century modern cityscape is stunning and although unsigned we believe it to be by Judith Daner. It is definitely in her style. It is comprised of five enamel on copper tiles mounted to a walnut frame. The copper tile is mounted first to hardboard and subsequently mounted floating in front of the walnut. The buildings are in vibrant colors of blue with black accents and the skies are golden with silver highlights. I can’t quite decide if this is a night view with a glowing moon or a daylight view with the sun reflecting off the windows.
Judith Daner was born in 1936 and grew up in New York but currently resides in Ashland, Mass. She received her BFA with top honors from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Plus, she studied at Parson’s School of Design and the Art Students League, both in New York. Judith has exhibited her work in galleries and museums nationally and at the Biennale Internationale in France. Her work is highly regarded and very collectable.
This enamel will be gorgeous no matter where it hangs…just make it yours!
