A Trifecta of Terrific Vases!! Aren’t these German Scherzer vases gorgeous? We certainly think so! This trio is comprised of matte white porcelain bisque each stamped on the bottom; Scherzer Bavaria, Germany. This mark was used 1949-1991 time frame and we believe these to be 1970’s. Each piece also bares a model number on the base. This set consists of model #511-1, a tall cylindrical geometric vase, #746-1, a mid-sized squared oval shaped vase with a lovely tree décor on both sides, and #745-0, a smaller squared oval shaped vase with an architectural pattern on both sides. They complement each other wonderfully and will look stunning grouped together on a console or sofa table, on a desk filled with fresh or faux flowers, or in a display cabinet or hutch. Their porcelain composition allows them to hold water if you choose. They are sleek, simple, and have a classy German modern flair.
The company ‘Zeh, Scherzer & Co was founded in 1880 by Johann Nicol Adam Zeh. His partners were Johann Michael Scherzer junior, Georg Adam Winterling, Johann Nicol Jacob Junior, Johann Andreas Karl Wolfel, and Johann Paulus Hertel. The company produced a wide range of pieces including tea & coffee sets, decorative porcelain, and regular household items and tableware. In 1910 it transformed into a limited company (Porzellanfabrik Zeh, Scherzer & Co. A.G.) and over 70 percent of production was exporting to the United States. In 1924 the company bought Porzellanfabrik Elster located in Mühlhausen in Saxony and owned it till 1935 and in 1992 the company stopped production of porcelain. -theoldstuff.
