When you buy these chairs you are buying a piece of history. This is an absolutely gorgeous set of six Charles P. Limbert Arts and Crafts Furniture Co. Art Deco style Chinoiserie chairs. The set contains one armed host chair and 5 armless side chairs. With the exception of one chair which, unfortunately, someone must have started a refinishing job and removed the painted detail. Each chair has its own individual hand painted Chinoiserie mini work of art painted on its splat which is also carved with intricate interlaced fretwork. Each “knee” is also adorned with a small oval painting, again, each one different. The toprail of these one of a kind chairs sports a carved pagoda style roof. You can see the Japanese influence, which Limbert used to great effect, in every detail of these beautiful chairs. Please take careful look at our photos. These chairs are not without flaws. Some have been repaired. Some have not. The original finish is crazed and worn but the chairs are sturdy. In my opinion they could be used as is as I love their 100 year old patina which shows their age. The burned-in logo dates them from 1906 to 1915. We do have the matching table and buffet listed on our site as well. You will not come across chairs of this great detail and design too often. Don’t let them slip away.
