Poul M. Volther (1923-2001), a Danish furniture and lighting designer, was trained as a cabinetmaker but later obtained his architect degree from the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts. Volther belonged to the mid-20th century generation of great Danish architects and designers ushering in the notable era of Scandinavian Modern functional high quality and artistically beautiful furnishings. Not only did Volther create a large body of work, most notably his Corona Chair, but as a teacher he influenced hundreds of future furniture architects and designers desire for quality craftsmanship.
