Georges Briard and Culver with a little extra thrown in. Mad Men had nothing on this set!! We have combined these three separate items into a set just because they look so darn good together. The ice bucket exterior is covered in a black faux crocodile vinyl and the handle and ball knob on the lid are gold-toned brass plating. It blends beautifully with the 22-karat gold design on the Culver old fashioned glasses. The design on these glasses is made up of crackled gold harlequin diamonds. And they all look fabulous presented on the black lacquer and gold tone aluminum rectangular tray. Although the maker of the tray is unknown, it is a splendid example of mid-century modern cocktail ware. The set together is simply stunning!
Culver Glass Company created lavish and opulent cocktail ware from 1939 when founded by Irving Rothenberg through 1996 when they were sold to Moderne Glass Company, Inc; but it is their designs from the 1950s through the 1960s that have become highly collectable and for which they have become most renowned.
Georges Briard which is a nom de plume for Jascha Brojdo was a Polish born American award-winning designer from the 1950s-1970s. Even being awarded the Frank S. Child Lifetime Achievement Award by The Society of Glass and Ceramic Decorators in 2004. His signature collections were stocked at noted department stores, such as Neiman Marcus and Bonwit Teller.
Two great designers together to serve you. Just make this delightful set yours!!
