Awesome vintage MCM (mid-century modern) black painted outdoor dining set of 4 tubular steel folding chairs attributed to Salterini’s Rid-Jid Hoop Chair paired with a wrought iron round dining table with expanded metal top, umbrella hole, and solid rod pedestal base. We have been unable to attribute the table to a maker, but it is in the style of Salterini. Beautiful overall condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. They have all been given a fresh black painted finish. This is an INCREDIBLE outdoor dining set comprised of 4 folding chairs attributed to Salterini’s famed Rid-Jid Hoop chair which feature black painted tubular steel frames with rounded backs and expanded metal in the half-moon seat backs and rectangular seats. The dining table is comprised of a black painted wrought iron frame with a pedestal base, solid rod curved legs, and a round tabletop featuring an expanded metal mesh surface with an umbrella hole in the center. This set has a simple, classic, and versatile design with durable, weather resistant frames. And just think of the umbrella options!! It is ready to be the new vintage addition to your Lanai, patio, deck, porch, out by the pool, or next to the grill ready for that backyard barbeque hosting friends or family!!
John Salterini immigrated from Italy to the United States in the 1920’s. He began his career in glass manufacturing and eventually began producing high quality outdoor furniture from his studio in Brooklyn, NY as a partner in Salterini & Gallo in 1928. Then in 1934 he launched his own firm where he specialized and created pieces for high end businesses and millionaires. His furniture was designed with a combination of geometric and organic forms. He is widely renowned for being responsible for the resurrection of wrought iron outdoor furniture ranging from traditional style tables to exotic pieces such as lounge chairs, settees, ottomans, and the peacock chair. He created the ever popular Neva-Rust collection known for its outdoor longevity. Mr. Salterini passed away in 1952.
