WOW, look at these Magnificent, Marvelous Mosaics!! This is a fantastic pair of framed gravel art figural mosaics ready to grace your home with their mid-century modern awesomeness!!! Gravel art was at its peak in the 1960’s. They were created with a variety of items such as crushed glass and chips of marble, sequins, glitter, beads, acrylic gems, aquarium rocks, or plastic pieces. According to Kymm Bang, Gravel Art 101, images were commonly outlined with cording and then filled in with the “gravels.” An artist named Jane Gaylor adapted the concept which was similar to the “paint by number,” which was invented by Dan Robbins in the 1950’s for Craft Master. These fabulous pieces consist of the most intricately placed, gorgeous gravel with black corded outline. One panel has two lovely ladies in colorful dresses that appear to have just gathered water from the stream outside the village and the other panel displays two men wearing turbans, one playing a horn, and both enjoying some leisure time. Can’t you just hear the soft tones of the instrument beautifully blowing in the breeze? We can! And although you may think the musician is upset per his not-so-inconspicuous finger gesture… not to worry! He is just hitting the perfect pitch of the note, plus his pinky is properly out, so he gets a pass! LOL!!! Come on, that’s funny! Both panels have gray to off-white backgrounds (one a bit lighter than the other) and the figures exude striking colors of turquoise, brown, orange, black, and yellow. This is a double delightful pair of framed gravel art, and they radiate mid-century modern magnificence, AND they will look fabulous on any wall in your home! Surely you love them as much as we do… then why wait? Make them YOURS!!!
