Although primarily known for their Arts and Craft oak furniture the Charles P. Limbert Furniture Co. made very beautiful and high quality furniture in other styles as well. This Art Deco Chinoiserie buffet is a perfect example of that. It has such gorgeous detail. From the fretwork to the little pagoda styled roof on the backplate of this buffet and the handpainted mini works of art scattered about the piece. Each handpainted design is a different Chinoiserie scene. The drawer and door pulls are little pieces of sculpture themselves. Even the stretchers have incredible fretwork details. Now, it retains its original finish so it shows its age. I personally love the patina but be aware it is not in perfect condition. Sturdy, yes; but, crazing in the finish and you can see some of the finish coming off at its feet. This Antique Limber Art Deco Chinoiserie buffet is still extremely beautiful. By the burned-in mark that was on the accompaning table and chairs, this piece dates between 1906 and 1915. When purchasing this piece you will be buying a great moment in history.
